Wondering what to expect during a mobile veterinary house call? Read our step-by-step guide on how
Dr. Lisa Loomis makes veterinary visits stress-free.
Step 1: Request Your Appointment
First, contact us via Facebook Messenger, phone (405-356-8554), or email (Tailored.animal.care.vet@gmail.com).
What to provide: Please share your contact details, your pet’s name and breed, and a brief description of the services they need.
Our schedule: We operate By Appointment Only on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, with optional Saturday evening slots (after 3:00 PM) available by special request. Since we keep our routes efficient, we will work with you to find a time slot that matches our schedule in Luther. We always notify you of any schedule changes.
En Route Notification: We always call or text to notify you when we are on the way to your location!
Tip for New Clients: Please complete our Online New Client Form before your appointment.
Step 2: Prepare Your Pet
(30 Minutes Before)
For a smooth and stress-free visit, please take these simple prep steps:
For Cats: Cats are masters of hiding when they hear someone new enter the house. Please place your cat in a small, secure room (like a bathroom) with the door closed about 30 minutes before Dr. Loomis is scheduled to arrive.
For Dogs: Keep your dog inside or in a secure, quiet area. If they are highly anxious or protective of the house, please let us know in advance so we can tailor our entry.
Gather Records: If you have veterinary records or vaccination history from another clinic, please have them ready or email them to us beforehand.
Step 3: Vitals, Exams, & Getting to Know Your Pet
When we arrive, we introduce ourselves to you and your animals. We never rush the appointment. We spend time making you and your pet comfortable before starting the exam.
First Steps: We take your pet’s vitals (T.P.R. — Temperature, Pulse, and Respiration) and weigh them.
Behavioral Comfort: We have extensive experience working with aggressive and very large animals, so don’t worry if your pet is anxious or difficult. We adapt to their pace.
Exam & Holistic Discussion: While performing the physical checkup, Dr. Loomis will chat with you about your expectations, concerns, and pet behavior. We will discuss their daily routine in detail—including inside/outside time, play, companion animals, current conditions, medications, contact with environmental items, and any stresses they may have.
No Brick-and-Mortar Restrictions: Because we are a mobile service, we are not restricted by rigid corporate templates or building time constraints. We tailor the pace of the visit to your individual animal.
Step 4: Care Options, Lab Work, & Supplying Meds
At the end of the exam, Dr. Loomis will discuss all findings and recommend anything from basic health measures to a full diagnostic workup. We discuss all costs upfront so there are no surprises.
Diagnostics & Lab Results: We send out any necessary lab tests (like bloodwork, fecals, or urinalysis) to our pathology partners, get the results, and contact you directly. Most follow-up consultations and results reviews are conveniently done over the phone.
Medication Delivery: If your pet needs immediate treatment, we can prescribe from our on-hand inventory or write a prescription to be called in to your local Luther pharmacy. We can also authorize meds and specialty foods on our Online Pharmacy for direct-to-home shipping.
Local Deliveries (No Travel Fee!): If your pet needs a medication that we have in stock on our mobile unit, and you are local or nearby in Luther, we will happily coordinate to deliver it to you without charging a travel fee!
Referrals for Advanced Care: For needs requiring sterile surgeries, X-rays, ultrasound, or 24/7 intensive care, Dr. Loomis will refer your pet to trusted local emergency clinics and specialty hospitals.
